PKBR Staff Writer Published 12 February 2018

Durst and Omet have launched XJET hybrid printing solution Durst Digital Days event.

The XJET printing system integrates Durst’s Tau 330 digital inkjet system with Omet X6 flexo stations and converting units.

The integrated solution, which is powered by Durst Tau RSC, is designed for a wide range of high-performance labels and packaging printing.

The Durst Tau RSC is a UV inkjet printing press. It features a 330mm print width with maximum print speed of 78 linear m/minute.

Durst labels & package printing segment manager Helmuth Munter said: “We are very pleased to partner OMET in the launch of this highly professional hybrid printing solution. It combines the best technologies of both, the digital inkjet printing and conventional pre- and post press printing and finishing world, offering our common future customers a highly cost effective and complete “all-in-one” printing process.”

Capable of offering an unlimited flexibility, the new system platform features in-line multi-process configuration allowing it to be used for a wide range of final applications with a consistent cost reduction.

Omet sales & marketing director Marco Calcagni said: “We managed to create a complete Made-in-Italy printing solution that meets the market trends of personalization, just-in-time deliveries and final product variation, but also maintaining all the capabilities of a conventional press.”

Omet said that the system’s Durst inkjet technology and OMET finishing and converting units such has cold foil, hot foil, lamination, varnishing, die-cutting and slitting ensure reliability.

Based on the requirement, the solution can be used as hybrid solution, flexo stand-alone or digital stand-alone, thus optimizing production time and costs, Omet noted.

The new Omet XJet system has been officially launched at Durst’s Digital Days held at its headquarters in Brixen, northern Italy.
