Heidelberg’s Promatrix 106 CSB machine allows Prisma Graphic to increase flexibility

PKBR Staff Writer Published 14 May 2018

US-based Prisma Graphic has expanded flexibility with the Heidelberg’s automated Promatrix 106 CSB dice-cutting machine.

The investment in the Promatrix 106 CSB is a part of Prisma Graphic’s plan to increase flexibility and expand its capabilities for future growth in the folding-carton market.

Since the commission of the machine, the firm has reported 35% increase in productivity in few months, Heidelberg said.

The purchase of the machine comes as Prisma Graphic discovered that 85% of its packaging jobs required diecutting, stripping and blanking.

As a result, the company replaced its older diecutter with the new, automated Promatrix 106 CSB to cover all of the needs of high flexibility required for the packaging either for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, hospitality or food.

Prisma Graphic CEO Bob Anderson said: “We needed a machine that was going to balance our workload between our packaging, online, and traditional print jobs.

“The Promatrix is great because it allows us to do all of the diecutting and packaging jobs we need to do quickly and efficiently both in short and long runs.”

The Promatrix CSB machine features non-stop feeder and delivery to eliminate the stops between pallet changes while still being able to process pallets.

Ideal complement for all Heidelberg printing presses of the Speedmaster series in size 70 x 100, up to the Speedmaster XL 106, the Promatrix machine provides options to users such as pre-make-ready table and a chase changer to further reduce set-up time.

Anderson added: “It’s so much more efficient. We are able to set up another job while having our current job running. Once that job is done, we can have our next job going directly to makeready.”

The US-based Prisma Graphic is a full-service, marketing solutions provider and commercial printer. It offers products and services that include web, sheetfed and variable digital printing, marketing, expertise, data analytics, fulfillment and complete in-house mailing.
