Rondo-Pak invests in HP Indigo 5900 to expand digital printing

PKBR Staff Writer Published 12 March 2018

US-based folding cartons provider Rondo-Pak has invested in HP Indigo 5900 digital press to expand its digital printing capabilities.

Rondo-Pak also provides regulated marketing materials to the pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer industries.

The investment is a part of Rondo-Pak’s effort to enhance its printing capabilities on a broad range of synthetics and extra thick substrates while ensuring color matching across a variety of packaging and materials applications.

Rondo-Pak expects the digital printing capabilities provided with the new press supports its carton assembly and branded sampling service.

The press allows the firm to provide a wider selection of substrates, increased paperboard thickness and additional security applications, reported Labels and Labeling.

Rondo-Pak COO Bob Reilley said: “This latest equipment investment is especially valuable to Rondo-Pak’s folding carton customers as it increases our ability to scale production from branded samples through steady state volumes.”

Compatible with a host of hardy substrates, the HP Indigo press is designed to work well with expanded material types, including synthetics like PVC, PET, Teslin and plastic cards.

In addition to handling both dark and transparent substrates, the press increased production speeds, and offers expanded primer technology for various paperboards, offset stock and specialty papers, reported What They Think.

Rondo-Pak said has also received G7 Master qualification, awarded by Idealliance, a non-profit industry group dedicated to guiding print production best practices, specifications and standards worldwide.

The firm said: “This qualification ensures Rondo-Pak can ensure brand consistency across the broadest range of printed marketing products and packaging products.”

Capable of supporting up to 550 microns (22 pt.) thickness, the printer supports colors including Cyan, magenta, yellow, black, orange, violet, green, UV red, light cyan, light magenta, white, digital matte, fluorescent pink.
