Campari America selects Thinfilm’s NFC mobile marketing solution

PKBR Staff Writer Published 09 January 2018

Thin Film Electronics' (Thinfilm) NFC mobile marketing solution is being used by Campari America to allow consumers to purchase its spirits brands by tapping their smartphone to a connected refrigerator magnet.

The magnet features Thinfilm’s NFC SpeedTap tags and fully integrates with its CNECT cloud-based platform.

Campari said that upon tapping the magnet once, consumers will be redirected to a product page on Drizly.

Consumers will be able to add the products including Wild Turkey Bourbon, SKYY Vodka, or any number of Campari America products to their cart and immediately check. The products will be delivered by local retailers.

Consumers are urged to touch their iPhone or Android smartphone to one of six available branded smart magnets when they seek to order or re-order their favorite Campari America brand,

Campari noted that the development is a part of its effort to simplify the consumer purchase cycle.

Campari America marketing vice president Melanie Batchelor said: “Campari America is always seeking innovative methods that increase the speed and efficiency of getting our products into consumers’ hands, and integrating NFC into our marketing materials is another way we’re looking to lead the mobile marketing trend.

“We’ve streamlined the purchasing experience for consumers, so now ordering and receiving Campari America’s brands is almost easier than making a Negroni.”

Campari currently offers instant-order NFC magnets for six brands including Campari, SKYY Vodka, Wild Turkey, Aperol, Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum, and Espolòn Tequila.

The spirits company said that the magnets will be made available for consumers at liquor stores in the New York City metro area.
